Research & Development
Systemair puts significant assets on development of efficient, environmentfriendly and userfriendly ventilation products. Within the Group there are more than 60 engineers and technicians working with product development, whereoff approx. 20 at the main plant in Skinnskatteberg, Sweden. The centre is a one million euro investment and is equipped with test facilities which make it one of Europe's most modern R&D centres for ventilation products. One of the facilities in the centre is an acoustic room, with background noise levels lower than what the human ear can perceive, it also includes a climate chamber with the possibility to simulate outdoor temperatures down to -20°C. The R&D centre are accredit by AMCA (Air Movement and Control Association International, Inc) for measuring of air and acoustic performance.
Climate chambers
Simulating indoor and outdoor climate while testing AHU equipped with 40 kW cooling power for temperature down to -20°C. Airflow up to 2400 m3/h. Measurements according to AMCA 210 and EN 308.
The R&D team
A project management system is used to secure an effective development process. The designers are following new products from idea to production and a 3D CAD system is used to design and visualize new products.
Air terminal device
54 m2 room for velocity measurements of air distribution from supply diffusers. A laser beam is used to visualize air movements. Measurements according to EN 12238.
Velocity profile
Measuring of velocity profile at air curtain according to AMCA 220-05.
Acoustic room
230 m3 reverberation room standing on springs to achieve background noise below 10 dBA. Measurements are performed with an frequency analyser and a rotating microphone boom. Accreditation for measurements according to AMCA 300.
Airflow and acoustic measurements are performed simultaneously. Accreditation for measurements according to AMCA 210.
Control room
All the test facilities are controlled through a data acquisition system with more than 250 channels. During the test the design engineers can simultaneously observe the results over internet from anywhere in the world. The results are stored in an SQL database for direct electronic publishing.
Electrical safety
For measurements of temperature and electrical safety for motors and heating products up to 55 kW and winding temperatures in motors under running conditions. Measurements according to EN 60335-1.
