Acknowledged hygiene standards, merged into a single certification programme with an easy-to-understand 3-star rating system
Eurovent Certification
Eurovent Certification offers an optional certification module to certify hygienic aspects of AHUs for different applications as part of its globally recognised Eurovent Certified Performance programme for air handling units.
Launched in 2016, Eurovent HAHU combines the requirements of multiple hygienic standards in a single programme – ending the current patchwork of differing national and regional norms.
Eurovent HAHU sets a common reference for HVAC consultants, planners, and installers. The programme offers a straightforward hygiene classification system, enabling you to choose the right level of hygiene requirements for your specific needs.
Ideal for environments with standard hygiene requirements like schools, offices, and hotels.
Aligned with VDI6022-1, tailored to meet the hygiene demands of general hospital applications.
Aimed at highly demanding hygienic applications like operating theatres, pharmaceutical facilities, laboratories, etc. Closely aligned with DIN 1946-4.
We want hygienic features to be more democratic and highlight that this should be the norm for all applications. All AHUs should be hygienic. This should be a requirement for any end user. After all, every person deserves to live in a building where the AHU and ducts are clean and without mould and dust. This first level of hygienic AHUs is here to reward those manufacturers who would have to provide hygienic for normal buildings such as schools and hotels.
President, Eurovent Certita Certification
The Eurovent HAHU certification includes annual audits by Eurovent Certita Certification (ECC) as an accredited third party.
ECC audits each factory regularly to ensure that the factory and manufactured products meet the desired quality level in line with the certification programme requirements.
ECC also audits the selection software of certified manufacturers, ensuring that the units you configure meet the hygienic requirements and levels defined in Eurovent’s HAHU programme.
Eurovent HAHU combines the best aspects of various hygienic standards in one comprehensive programme, providing a single solution that simplifies your specification efforts. This includes, for example:
VDI 6022-1 / SWKI VA 104-01: Hygiene and Hygiene Inspections of HVAC Systems
DIN 1946-4: Ventilation in buildings and rooms of healthcare
HTM 03-01: Specialised Ventilation for Healthcare Premises
VDI itself is not a certification body, and any claims that VDI issued a certification are conclusively false.
VDI-6022 is a guideline that, in parts, can be flexibly interpreted. The Eurovent HAHU programme incorporates VDI-6022 requirements, but more clearly defines them to ensure each requirement’s verifiability.
At Systemair, we believe that every AHU should be hygienic, even for general ventilation applications. This is the cornerstone of our #HygienicByDesign concept, which makes hygienic a standard offering for our air handling unit solutions.
When selecting a Systemair product that carries our #HygienicByDesign mark, it fulfils, at minimum, the following criteria:
VDI 6022-1 compliant materials, smooth surfaces
Accessible, easy to clean
Coated materials, resistant to corrosion
Hygiene-certified option
Our flagship range of AHUs was designed in line with our #HygienicByDesign principles. When selecting any Geniox model, you can thus be ensured that hygienic requirements are part of the unit’s standard offering. In addition, any unit can be configured as a Eurovent-certified HAHU with different levels.
