ORV

ORV

Overpressure release valve - passive element with quick response

  • Automatic operation

  • Temperature range -20 ÷ 80°C

  • Pre-set pressure difference

Over-Pressure Relief Vent (ORV) – Product Description

ORV is a passive element with a quick response. It opens automatically at design pressure difference (opening pressure), allowing airflow, from an area with higher pressure, to an area with lower pressure.

ORV pressure – volume flow characteristic is achieved by fixed and/or adjustable balancing weights.

Function & Applications

ORV are essential for maintaining a controlled pressure difference between two areas, or for express pressure relief during unintendent evant. ORV responds quickly to pressure changes. It is not airtight. External influences, such as wind load, aditional air pasage blockig elements should be monitored and mitigated.

Transitional characteristics ...K = Constant

Constant (Quasi-constant) transitional (default) for maintaining approximately constant pressure difference between over and under pressure areas (in some range) at transitional phenomenon.ORV…K… should always be used alongside active pressure control systems, such as fans, to maintain the airflow and desired pressure levels.

Typical Applications...K:

  • Cleanroom environments - Ensuring controlled pressure cascades in laundries, pharmaceutical production, and electronics manufacturing to prevent contamination of interior or exterior by chemical or biological pollutants.

  • Chemical laboratories - Preventing hazardous substances from escaping to the exterior.

  • Fire safety - Pressurizing evacuation corridors, stairways, lobby’s … to create smokeless escape routes.

  • Smoking rooms - Providing fresh air supply in under-pressure environments with exhaust-only ventilation.

  • Data centers – maintaining pressure difference needed for servers cooling

  • General ventilation – Assisting air supply or exhaust in rooms with low requirements.

Transitional characteristics ...E - Express

  • Express pressure relief transitional characteristic, where quick pressure drop is demanded. After unintended event ORV return to closed position.

  • ORV…E… designed to minimize pressure higher than opening pressure in room as quickly as possible. Pressure drop during transitional phenomenon is always lower than opening pressure. Possible fine adjustment of opening and closing pressure

Typical Applications...E:

  • Intended to prevent damages, due to instant pressure rise caused by:

  • Transformer rooms - arc flashes...

  • Railroad stations and tunnels - when train coming to closed station (subways)

  • Other areas … explosions or … are expected (ORV not ATEX certified)

Shapes

  • ORV-D= Duct shape - flanges on both sides

  • ORV-T= T shape - flange only on inlet side (Loose flange for exhaust side available)

Installation position

  • ORV-...-V ...= Vertical on the wall - airflow horizontal

  • ORV-...-H ...= Horizontal on the Ceiling – airflow upwards

Technical Specifications

  • Temperature range: -40°C to 80°C (frost accumulation should be prevented)

  • Materials:

  • Frame: Zinc-Magnesium (ZM) coated steel;

  • Flaps: AlMg3 aluminum alloy

  • Flaps configuration: single or multiple flaps, depending on ORV height

  • Opening pressure: Factory pre-set with limited adjustment (if not specified - default ~33 Pa, characteristics K). This is optimal for working pressure 50Pa.

  • Opening pressure settings up to 100 Pa available

  • Working pressure up to 500 Pa

  • Compliance: Designed for installation according to EN 12101-6 standards

Customization & Additional Options

C = Connection between flaps

  • Connection prevent annoying alternating opening and closing different flaps in nonstable area. It is recommended for ORV with few flaps which operate daily (regularly) in nonstable (transient) area. NOT recommended for safety concerned application.

  • Adjustable opening pressure and transient characteristic in wider range

  • Powder coating in custom RAL colors

  • Custom dimensions

  • Different materials
